Question : Joint Patrolling of Asia Pacific

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether India has rejected US proposal to conduct joint patrolling of Asia Pacific region;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether India would not involve in anti-China dialogue too with US; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and reasons therefor?

(a) & (b) Government of India engages constructively with Asia Pacific countries, including to promote and ensure our maritime security. However, our engagement does not include joint patrolling with foreign navies including the United States.

(c) & (d) Our relationship with the US is not directed against or determined by any other country, nor is it at the expense of relationship with other countries. India believes in framing partnerships for mutual benefit and advancing global peace, stability and prosperity.
