Question : Public Bi-cycle Sharing System

(a) whether the Government is aware that some State Governments have introduced the Public Bi-cycle Sharing system as it reduces traffic congestion, enhances space efficiency and improves air quality and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether there is an urgent need to take measures to reduce traffic congestion, enhance space efficiency and improve air quality all over the country and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has any proposal to introduce the said system all over the country; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d) : Bicycle sharing system is being introduced in many States. Non-motorised vehicles are under the domain of the states and they are fully empowered to take any action in this regard.
