Question : Visa on Arrival

(a) the number of countries whose citizens are entitled to visa on arrival in India;
(b) the number of peoples granted visa in India each year at present;
(c) whether the Government proposes to include more countries under tourism visa facility on arrival in India to promote tourism;
(d) whether the Government proposes to extend the existing limit of open tourist visa to the entitled tourists for the same; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI G. KISHAN REDDY)

(a): As conveyed by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Visa on arrival facility has been extended to the nationals of Japan, Republic of Korea and United Arab Emirates (UAE) nationals only at designated international airports namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad for business, tourism, medical & conference purposes.

(b): As conveyed by Bureau of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs, the numbers of people granted Visa- on Arrival in India are given in Annexure.
(c): No such proposal is under consideration in this Ministry at this stage. However, nationals of 156 countries are eligible for grant of electronic visa (e- visa) for tourism purposes.

(d) & (e): No, Sir. No such proposal under consideration.
