(a) whether the United States Patent and Trade Office has granted a patent for some Indian innovations recently;
(b) if so, the details thereof ;
(c) whether any test was conducted before the patent for cow Urine was applied for;
(d) if so, the details thereof ;
(e) the names of the Institutions who have invented the new drugs ; and
(f) the time by which these drugs are likely to be made available in the market ?

(a)&(b) : Yes Sir, a US Patent bearing no. 6,410,059 has been granted on June 25, 2002 to Council of Scientific & Industrial Research(CSIR) for Pharmaceutical composition containing cow urine distillate and an antibiotic.
(c)&(d) : The bioenhancement action of different fractions of cow urine distillate has been studied in combination with antibiotics and taxol through in vitro testing on various bacterial cultures and cancer cell lines respectively.
(e) : No new drugs have been discovered. Only a pharmaceutical composition showing the bioenhancement action of a fraction of cow urine distillate has been found. Central Institute of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) Lucknow, a constituent laboratory of CSIR, and Go-Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra, Nagpur were involved in the innovation.
(f) : The pharmaceutical composition will have to undergo the animal and human trials as per the rules under Drugs and Cosmetic Act in place, on successful completion of which the composition will be made available.
