(a): To achieve the objective of “Housing for All” by 2022, in rural areas of the country, the Government has re-structured the erstwhile rural housing scheme Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) into Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G). PMAY-G is being implemented by Ministry of Rural Development w.e.f. 1st April 2016. In urban areas of the country, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) is being implemented by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs w.e.f. 25.06.2015. The funds released to the State of Kerala under rural housing schemes (IAY & PMAY-G) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) during 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 is as below:

(b): All districts of Kerala are covered under PMAY – G. Under PMAY-U, actual demand of housing is assessed after a demand survey is undertaken by the States / UTs.
(c): As on 1st July 2019, a total of 728 houses have been constructed in the Ernakulam district of Kerala under PMAY – G and 6,673 under (PMAY-U)
