(a) & (b): The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is imparting employable skills to the youth through long-term and short-term skill training. The Ministry is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Scheme and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) for short-term training, and Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) through the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for long-term training. The number of job roles offered, range of training duration, and the number of persons trained during the last five years under each of the above schemes are given below:

(c) In the short-term skilling eco-system, various social and community mobilization initiatives are being taken, which have a direct impact on the enrolment process. Some of the channels used for outreach efforts and mobilization of candidates for enrolment include use of mass media, door-to-door mobilization, Kaushal Mela/ mobilization camps, Apprenticeship fairs, etc.
In the long-term skilling eco-system, the Directorate General of Training (DGT) has taken the following initiatives to increase the enrolment in ITIs:
? Dual System of Training under which theoretical training is imparted through ITIs and practical training through the Industry;
? Increase in unit size/ batch;
? Inclusion of a compulsory subject, ‘Employability Skills’, in the curricula for awareness of trainees/ apprentices on Soft Skills and Entrepreneurial Skills;
? Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by DGT with the National Institute of Open Schooling for academic equivalency of vocational qualification of ITI students to attain Class X/ XII certificate; and
? Launch of Bharat Skill Portal for blended learning to increase participation of trainees.
