Question : RAIDS CONDUCTED AND CASES PROBED BY CBI AND CVC



(a) the number of raids conducted and number of cases probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Central Vigilance Commission in various parts of the country during the last three years and the current year, till date;

(b) the number of officers and employees caught during the said raids;

(c) the action taken against the guilty officers by the Government; and

(d) the number of officers penalised and acquitted in each case?

(a) CBI is conducting searches at various places from time to time during investigation in accordance with law, depending upon requirement of the cases. The numbers of raids/searches conducted are a part of individual case record. No centralized data in this regard is maintained. However, the number of cases registered by CBI during the last three years i.e. 2011, 2012 and 2013 are as under:-

As regards Central Vigilance Commission, the Commission neither conducts raids nor investigations.

(b) It is a part of individual case record and no centralized data is maintained in CBI in this regard.

(c) After conclusion of investigation, final report is filed by CBI in the competent court. The guilt of the accused officials and punishment therefor are decided by the competent court.

(d) No centralized data is maintained in CBI with regard to officials punished/acquitted in each of the case which is a part of individual case record. However, number of cases ended in conviction or acquittal during the last three years are as under:-
