Question : Functioning up of CPSEs

(a) the details of Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSEs) set up in the country, particularly in Assam during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise;

(b) the details of the CPSEs located in the State of Assam along with the financial status thereof during the said period;

(c) the extent to which these CPSEs have contributed in the development of the State including creation of employment opportunities to local people; and

(d) the steps taken to ensure efficient functioning of these CPSEs including fulfilling of corporate social responsibility?

(a): As per information available in Public Enterprises Survey 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14, 35 Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) have been set up with their Registered Offices in the country. The State-wise details of these CPSEs including Assam for the last 3 years (2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14) are given in Annex-I enclosed.
(b): As per the location of the Registered Offices, 7 CPSEs were established in the State of Assam as on 31.3.2014. The financial status of these 7 CPSEs for the last three years (2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14) is given at Annex –II enclosed.
(c): Out of the 7 CPSEs, 5 CPSEs were in operation and 2 CPSEs were at under construction stage. The contribution to the State Exchequer of these 5 CPSEs during the years 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 was Rs. 3315.53 crore, Rs. 2078.93 crore and Rs. 688.24 crore respectively. There were 10110 employees, including local people on the rolls of these CPSEs as on 31.03.2014.
(d): The concerned administrative Ministries / Departments monitor the functioning including corporate social responsibility (CSR) of CPSEs on a regular basis, and take appropriate steps as they consider necessary.
