(a) & (b): Steps have been taken to promote integration among the three armed forces from time to time, which include establishment of Integrated Defence Staff, two Tri-Service Commands, three Tri-Service Agencies in specialized fields, etc.
The Government has recently approved in principle the creation of a post of CDS. An Implementation Committee was also approved and constituted to further determine and finalize the exact responsibilities, an enabling framework for this new post and all other issues involved to ensure smooth operationalization.
