Question : Villages Covered under PMGSY

(a) the number of villages covered under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and the number of villages yet to be connected by roads in the State of Tamil Nadu;

(b) the details of the funds allocated, sanctioned, released and the expenditure incurred under various phases of PMGSY during the last five years in Tamil Nadu; and

(c) whether the Government has reviewed the progress of the PMGSY in the State of Tamil Nadu, if so, the details and outcome thereof?

(a): The unit of programme under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is a habitation and not a revenue village. Since inception till 12th July, 2019, out of 1988 eligible and feasible habitations of more than 500 populations as per 2001 Census, 1985 habitations have already been provided connectivity. State has reported that remaining habitations are in the process of dropping.

(b): The details of the funds released and the expenditure incurred under various phases of PMGSY during the last five years in Tamil Nadu is as under:-

(c): The progress of implementation of rural roads under PMGSY is regularly reviewed by way of Regional Review Meetings (RRMs), Performance Review Committee (PRC) Meetings, Pre-Empowered/Empowered Committee Meetings with the State. At District level, the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) headed by a Member of Parliament (LS) monitors the implementation of various schemes of Government of India including PMGSY. In addition to this, special review meetings are also held by Secretary/ Additional Secretary/Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development with Chief Secretaries/Principal Secretaries of the States. As a result, the State has provided connectivity to all eligible and feasible habitations and completed 17,675.089 km under PMGSY.
