Question : Revision of AYUSH Policy

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is considering to review AYUSH policy, if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of the relief measures to be taken by the Government for the industries associated with AYUSH; and

(c) the steps being taken by the Government to promote the use of AYUSH products in the country?

(a): No. The inputs regarding AYUSH were provided to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare which was subsequently included in the National Health Policy (NHP), 2017 duly approved by the Cabinet.
(b): Ministry of AYUSH has written to Department of Revenue for consideration of reducing direct and indirect taxation on ASU&H medicines in the context of Union budget for 2019-20. Ministry of AYUSH provides incentives to drug manufacturers, entrepreneurs, AYUSH institutions for participation in national and international exhibitions, road shows, trade fairs etc. Ministry of AYUSH also supports market authorization/ registration of AYUSH products with USFDA/EMEA/UKMHRA and their internal regulatory agencies.
(c): Quality Control provisions are framed and amended time to time to promote the manufacturing of quality medicinal products. Ministry of AYUSH has published Essential Drug lists of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani & Homeopathy to facilitate supply of medicines to hospitals and dispensaries in the states through Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission.
