Question : COMMISSION TO TRAVEL AGENTS



(a) whether the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked the airlines to resume their commission to travel agents;

(b) if so, the details in this regard;

(c) the name of airlines which have stopped commission to travel agents in the country; and

(d) the reaction of airlines on this directive of DGCA?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION(SHRI PRAFUL PATEL)

(a) and (b):- The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has passed an order indicating that as per rule DGCA can not lay down quantum of commission payable by airlines to agents.It is entirely up to the airlines to take a decision in this regard in consultation with agents taking in to account various commercial factors such as the market conditions, the cost of Agents` establishments, etc. and statutory definition of `tariff.

(c):- The following airlines have stopped commission to travel agents in the country: -
(i) Air Canada
(ii) Air France
(iii) Austrian Airlines
(iv) British Airways
(v) Continental Airlines
(vi) Delta Airlines
(vii) Finair
(viii) Japan Airlines
(ix) Royal Dutch
(x) Lufthansa
(xi) Northwest Airlines
(xii) Qatar Airways
(xiii) Silk Air
(xiv) Singapore Airlines
(xv) Swiss International and
(xvi) United Airlines.

(d):- Most of the airliens have sought time to implement the order.
