(a) whether his Ministry has received any proposal from the Department of
Telecommunications for release of spectrum currently held by the Defence forces;
(b) if so, the response of his Ministry in this regard;
(c) whether the release of the spectrum so proposed will impact future defence
communication expansion; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. An MoU was signed between the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and
Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MoC&IT) on 22nd May 2009 for release of
spectrum.
(c) & (d): In view of the provision in MoU to provide an exclusive Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) network,release of spectrum is not expected to impact future defence communication
expansion.
