Question : Coaching for Government Services

(a) whether the Government has launched any scheme to provide free/subsidised coaching
for Government services examinations for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/Other
Backward Caste students; and
(b) if so, the details of schemes/ guidelines and the centres in the country, State-wise?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has informed that it has
been providing financial assistance to Central/Deemed/State Universities and affiliated
colleges during XII plan for coaching for entry into services for students belonging to
SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/minorities.
The basic objective of the coaching scheme is to assist in increasing the
representation of students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and Minority
communities in Group ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ Central services, State services or equivalent positions
in the private sector by preparing them for examinations conducted for selection to these
services. Assistance is provided under the scheme to Universities, Deemed to be
Universities and Colleges, eligible under the scheme, for equipments; books, journals &
study materials; remuneration, honorarium, travelling expenses of resource persons; etc.

The number of Universities, Deemed to be Universities and Colleges imparting
coaching for services under the UGC scheme in the country, State-wise, during the XII plan
