(a) whether any proposal for the construction of new railway line from Anandnagar to Ghughli under Eastern Railways is lying pending with the Government;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government proposes to sanction/approval for construction of the said new railway line;
(d) if so, the time by which it is likely to be completed; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): The work of new Broad Gauge line Anandnagar-Ghughuli via Maharajganj was included in the Budget 2013-14 subject to the condition that the work would be taken up once the Government clearances are obtained. Government clearances have not been given, since project was found financially unviable and therefore, could not be taken forward.
