Question : HIRING OF FOREIGN EXPERTS ACADEMICIANS



(a) whether the Government is planning to bring experts/academicians from across the world to teach in institutions in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the objectives behind the move;

(c) whether the Government has identified the universities/institutions where they will teach and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether students will be charged extra fees for getting teaching from experts and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the time by which these experts are likely to start teaching in the universities of the country?

(a) to (e): The Scheme called Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) seeks to invite distingui- shed academicians, entrepreneurs, scientists, experts including Indian Diaspora from premier institutions across the world to teach in the higher educational institutions in India during summer and winter breaks. The Scheme will give international exposure to our students, address shortage of faculty and also provide opportunity to our faculty to learn and share know- ledge and teaching skills in cutting edge areas. The draft Cabinet Note has been circulated to the conce- rned Ministries and Departments for their comments.
