(a) A statement giving state-wise details of primary, upper primary and secondary schools which
do not have their own buildings is given in Annexure-I.
(b) & (c): Under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) 1,92,754 primary and 1,07,054 upper primary school buildings have been sanctioned. Under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), which was launched in March, 2009 and which seeks to enhance access to secondary education, 35,547 existing
secondary schools have been approved for infrastructure strengthening and improvement. As per the mandate given in the Right of Children to Free And Compulsory Education 2009, appropriate Governments are required to establish within such area or limits of neighborhood, as may be prescribed, a school where it is not so established within a period of three years from the commencement of the Act. The appropriate Governments are also required to provide school
infrastructure in accordance with the norms prescribed in the Schedule to the Act.
(d) A statement giving state-wise details of elementary school buildings and additional classrooms constructed under SSA during the last three years and current year is given in Annexure-II.
(e) A statement giving state-wise details of outlays approved for school infrastructure work under SSA programme during the last three years & current year given in Annexure- III.
