Question : Techno Economic Feasibility Studies of Stations

(a) whether the Ministry of Railways is undertaking techno-economic feasibility studies of railway stations through various agencies;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether based on the outcome of these feasibility studies, stations are being planned to be taken up for development in phases, especially the stations located in major cities and important tourist destinations; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) of UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4547 BY SHRIMATI HEMA MALINI TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 30.03.2022 REGARDING TECHNO ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY STUDIES OF STATIONS

(a) to (d) Yes, Sir. Ministry of Railways through various agencies is undertaking techno-economic feasibility studies of Railway Stations. Rani Kamlapati Railway Station of West Central Railway and Gandhi Nagar Capital Railway Station of Western Railway have been developed and commissioned. Based on the experience of these two stations together with the outcome of feasibility studies of other stations, these stations are planned to be taken up for development in phases especially the stations located in major cities and important tourist destinations.

Station development programme is first of its kind and complex in nature, as such, the details of phases cannot be given at this stage.
