Question : FORMULATION OF SCHEME FOR EXPANSION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS



(a) whether the Government have formulated a scheme for expansion of National Highways in the country;

(b) if so, the extent to which the National Highways are likely to be expanded, State-wise;

(c) the funds allocated for the implementation of this scheme;

(d) whether the Government have also decided to link up the Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan with the National Highway;

(e) if so, the details thereof; and

(f) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b) Expansion of National Highways is a continuous process. Proposals received from various States are considered depending upon traffic needs, inter-se priority and availability of resources.

(c) Funds for the development of National Highways are provided as and when required depending on overall availability of resources.

(d) No, Sir.

(e) Does not arise.

(f) The proposal for new National Highways are considered keeping in view the traffic needs, their inter-se priority and overall availability of funds.
