(a): The Centre for Develoment of Advanced Computing(CDAC) was set up as a national
initiative of the Government of India to build capability in the country for design,
development and deployment of high performance computers (also known as Supercomputers)
based on parallel processing computing technology. The PARAM 10000 is the C-DAC`s
latest and most powerful supercomputer in India having a peak processing power of 100 Giga
Floating point Operations per second (Gflop). C-DAC is currently implementing its Third
Mission for the develoment of next generation of high performance computing
technology and applications. C-DAC has over the years diversified its activities,
transferring the expertise it acquired and technologies it developed in the high
performance computing to develop and deploy Information Technology(IT) based solutions
in the various sectors of economy and offer training in various areas of IT.

(b) and (c): The detailsin this regard are at Annexure-II.
(d): Software Technology Parks(STPs) for the following locations have already been
approved and in the process are being set up by STPI:-
1. Guwahati in Assam
2. Gangtok (as a hub centre to STP Guwahati) in Sikkim
3. Srinagar in J&K
4. Vizag in Andhra Pradesh
5. Indore
6. Hubli
Other locations under consideration include Shimla, Nasik, Nagpur, Aurangabad,
Kolhapur, Mumbai, Gwalior, Bhopal, Rourkela, Pondicherry, Trichi, Madurai, Lucknow,
Dehradun and Calcutta.
