Question : Committee on Anganwadi Workers

(a) whether the Government has constituted any committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. Chandresh Kumari relating to service condition and revision in honorarium of Anganwadi workers;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the recommendations made by the committee along with the follow-up action taken by the Government thereon?

a) & b) Yes, Madam. A Committee on Empowerment of Women under the Chairpersonship of Dr. Chandresh Kumari consisting 20 Members of Lok Sabha and 10 Members of Rajya Sabha was constituted by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
c) Sixteen recommendations concerning ICDS were made by the Committee. Ministry of Women and Child Development furnished the action taken replies on the recommendations in May 2012.
Sixteenth Report (Fifteenth Lok Sabha) of the Committee on Empowerment of Women on action taken by the Government was presented to Lok Sabha and laid in the Rajya Sabha on 04.09.2012. Out of the 16 recommendations/observations made by the Committee, 13 recommendations were accepted by the Government. Pursuant to the observations made by the Committee in its Sixteenth Report, the Ministry of Women and Child Development furnished final action taken replies on the Working Conditions of Anganwadi Workers in January 2013.
