Question : AADHAR PROJECT



(a) whether the Government proposes to integrate the UID project with National Population Register (NPR);

(b) If so, the details thereof and the time by which the final decision is likely to be taken in this regard;

(c) whether the Government has any proposal for giving statutory status to Aadhar and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether there is any district in the country where the Aadhar project is still not rolled out; and

(e) if so, the details thereof, State/district wise and the reasons therefor along with the time by which the UIDAI would complete the task ?

(a) & (b): There is no such proposal under consideration of the Government, at this stage.

(c): The National Identification Authority of India Bill, 2010 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha in December 2010 and was thereafter referred to the Standing Committee on Finance. The report presented by the Standing Committee on Finance was considered and a revised Bill was approved by the Government on 08.10.2013. A notice for introduction of the Bill alongwith official amendment was moved in the Parliament during the Winter Session, 2013. However, the same could not be taken up for consideration.

(d) & (e): Based on the allocation of work to UIDAI by the Government, Aadhar enrolments are being carried out in all districts of the 22 States / Union Territories.
