Question : Non-Domestic Gas Agencies

(a) the total number of non-domestic (Commercial) Gas Agencies and distributors in the country, State wise;
(b) whether Domestic Regular Distribution has been stopped at the places where the supply of non-domestic (commercial) gas agencies exist and if so, the details thereof, State-wise;
(c) the reasons for selection of non-domestic (commercial) distributors without stopping the supply of domestic regular gas;
(d) whether any proposal is under consideration of the Government to shut down the commercial gas supply of the Domestic Regular Distributor and to allow non-domestic (commercial) gas dealers to supply gas for domestic purpose in the country; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the time by which the final decision is likely to be taken in this regard?

(a)
As on 01.07.2018, there are 289 non-domestic LPG distributors in the country. State/UT-wise details are at Annexure.
(b)
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reported that domestic regular distributors have not been stopped from marketing of Non-Domestic Non-Exempted (NDNE) LPG cylinders where the supply of NDNE retailer exists.
(c)
OMCs have reported that commercial LPG business is a highly competitive business with the presence of private LPG marketers and the customer has option to choose any supplier. In certain markets, a dedicated distributor for commercial LPG business is necessary to focus on this segment and compete effectively in a stiff competitive market.
(d) & (e)
There is no proposal under consideration of the Government to shut down the commercial gas supply of domestic regular distributors and to allow non-domestic gas dealers to supply gas for domestic purposes.
