(a)&(b): Government proposes to amend The Trade Marks Act, 1999. The proposed
amendment is based on the decision of Government of India to accede to the Madrid
Protocol concerning international registration of marks which requires amendment
in the Trade Marks Act. This will empower the Registrar of Trade Marks Registry
to deal with international applications, both originating from India and received
from Contracting parties,prescribe procedure for dealing with international
applications and facilitate the implementation of Protocol obligations.
Ministry of Human Resource Development has put on its website some suggested
amendments to the Copyright Act, 1957.
