STARRED QUESTION NO.78* FOR 5TH FEBRUARY, 2021
The ‘India COVID19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness package’ of Rs 15,000 crores has been approved by the Cabinet on 22nd April 2020 with an objective to prevent, detect and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19. The funds and commodities are allocated to the states under various components of the package such as:
1. Component 1: Emergency COVID19 response
2. Component 2: Strengthening National and State health Systems to support Prevention and Preparedness
3. Component 3: Strengthening Pandemic Research and Multi-sector, National Institutions and Platforms for One Health
4. Component 4: Community Engagement and Risk Communication
5. Component 5: Implementation Management, Capacity Building, Monitoring and Evaluation
Central government has provided directions to states on setting up dedicated COVID wards and expansion of hospital capacity in various Central government institutions. Besides, Dedicated COVID Care Centres (DCCC), Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC) and COVID Dedicated Hospitals (DCH) have been set up by states as per the SOPs provided by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The details of infrastructure so strengthened is placed at Annexure I.
Under the ‘India COVID19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness package’, Rs.6309.90 crore has been released to the States/UTs, through National Health Mission (NHM). The details are given at Annexure- II.
