Question : PUBLIC FUNCTIONS AT SAMADHIS OF NATIONAL LEADERS

(a) whether the Union Government has decided to undertake all public functions at the Samadhis of national leaders around the Raj Ghat complex;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether most of the memorials of national leaders around the Raj Ghat, Delhi have neglected and targeted by vandals and encroachers;

(d) if so, whether the Union Government proposes to take over the responsibility for the maintenance, beautification, security and upkeep of the samadhis;

(e) if so, the details thereof; and

(f) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)to(f): With a view to improving the Samadhis-Complex, an integrated concept plan has been prepared that aims at making the Complex aesthetically and functionally better befitting the sanctity of the place and to meet the requirements of visitors to the Complex. It has been decided to redevelop/upgrade the entire Complex.

The Security of the Complex has recently been handed over to Central Industrial Security Force.. Instructions have been issued to the CPWD to hold functions henceforth at the Samadhis-Complex.
