(a) The average annual water availability in the country is
assessed at 1869 Billion Cubic Metre (BCM). Out of which, the
utilizable water resources are 1122 BCM (690 BCM of surface water
and 432 BCM of replenishable ground water). 629 BCM of water is
being utilized for diverse purposes including 524 BCM for irrigation
and 30 BCM for domestic purposes. Rest of the water could be
considered to be flowing down to sea.
(b) As per the details provided by the Government of Madhya
Pradesh, the potential created and expenditure incurred in the last
10 years are as under:
