Question : WIND POWER PLANTS



(a) whether the Government is aware that acce- lerated benefits which was pushing wind gene- ration in the country have been withdrawn from the sector, if so, the reasons therefor;

(b) whether the Ministry is pushing for compu- lsory enforcement of Renewable Purchase Obliga- tion to stimulate renewable energy market in the country, if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is proposed to increase funding for Generation Based Incentives into the wind power sector, if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether it is proposed to install more wind power plants in Rajasthan; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a): The Accelerated Depreciation (AD) benefit for wind sector which was discontinued w.e.f. 01.04.2012, has been restored w.e.f. 01.04.2014 by Government of India.

(b): In December 2014, the Government of India intro- duced the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2014 in the Lok Sabha. It provides for substitution of a new section for punishment for non-compliance of directions by Appropriate Commission regarding enforcement of Rene- wable Purchase Obligation (RPO)

(c): Funding for Generation Based Incentive (GBI) has been increased, as per need, from Rs. 25 crores in 2010-11 to Rs. 566 crore in 2014-15.

(d)&(e): The national target including Rajasthan for installation of wind power has been proposed to inc- rease from 2000 MW in the current year to 2400 MW next year.
