(a)whether the World Bank has been providing financial assistance to the States for pollution abatement and to make the environment pollution free; and
(b)if so, the details of funds released during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise including Chhattisgarh?

(a) The Ministry is implementing two (2) projects with World Bank loan viz. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) Project and Capacity Building for Industrial Pollution Management Project (CBIPMP).

ICZM is a programme for conservation and management of selected stretch of the coastal areas in the states of Gujarat, West Bengal, Odisha and Tamil Nadu. ICZM Project has been approved with a budget outlay of Rs.1580.10 crore and was initiated in March, 2010 and is to be completed in December, 2017. Pollution abatement activities are being carried out in coastal states of Gujarat, West Bengal and Odisha. The activities comprise of construction of 71 MLD sewerage treatment plant at Jamnagar and Pollution Control Lab in Gujarat; solid waste management and construction of Pollution control lab at Paradeep, Odisha; and storm water drainage, beach cleaning and electrification work in Sagar Island, West Bengal.
Capacity Building for Industrial Pollution Management Project (CBIPMP) is being undertaken for environmentally sound remediation of contaminated sites in the country, which includes remediation of four pilot projects of hazardous waste sites and municipal solid waste sites in the States of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This project has been approved with budget of 339.26 crore and was initiated in October 2010 and is to be completed in September 2017.

(b) The details of amount released to various States under these major areas during the period 2012-13 to 2015-2016 (Up to November-20l5) are given at Annexure-I
