Question : Dissemination of Parliamentary Awareness

(a) Whether the Government allocates funds to conduct various programmes viz: student parliament, seminars and sensitization campaign in different states for dissemination of parliamentary awareness among the youth;

(b) If so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated during the last three years and the current year, scheme & State-wise; and

(c) the actual expenditure incurred for such programmes during the said period ?

(a) The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs gives financial assistance to States/ UTs for organizing ‘Youth Parliament Competitions’ in the recognized High/ Higher Secondary Schools for creating awareness about the Parliamentary functions and procedures amongst the Indian youth under the “Scheme of Financial Assistance to States/Union Territories for organising Youth Parliament Competitions”. The actual expenditure is reimbursed by the Ministry on the basis of the report submitted by the States/ UTs, subject to the following ceiling:-
(i) Legislatures having members up to 100 Rs. 3 Lacs p.a.
(ii) Legislatures having members between 100-200 Rs. Rs 4 Lacs p.a.
(iii) Legislatures having members above 200 Rs. 5 Lacs p.a.
(iv) UTs having no legislatures Rs. 2 Lacs per UT p.a.

(b) & (c) The details of the financial assistance given under the Scheme to the various States/UTs during the last three years and the current year vis-à-vis the actual expenditure incurred are as under:-
