Question : OPENING OF KVs

(a) whether it is a fact that several newly opened Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) are functioning without Principal and staff;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor KV-wise; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to appoint/post the Principal and other staff to such KVs?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (SMT. SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI)

(a) to (c): Newly opened Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) function only upto class-V in the beginning and there is no sanctioned post of Principals for such KVs. Newly opened KVs are headed by Vice-Principals, also known as Principal (Grade-II). Some vacancies of Vice-Principal / Principal (Grade-II) and of teachers always exist due to the time lag between occurrence of vacancy on opening of a new KV and the recruitment process. There is a provision of appointment of teachers on contractual basis against vacancies in KVs. Recruitment for the posts of teachers and Vice-Principals/Principals is an ongoing process.
