Question : Status of DDK- Shillong

(a) the status of Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Shillong, Meghalaya;
(b) the amount spent to upgrade the DDK Shillong, Meghalaya during the last five years;
(c) the names and period of regular directors during the said period; and
(d) the number of visits made by the Hon’ble Minister to review the functioning of DDK Shillong, Meghalaya during the said period?

(a) Prasar Bharati has informed that Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Shillong, Meghalaya is operational and the Set-up comprises 01 Studio Centre, 02 High Power Transmitters (HPTs) of 10 KW & 5 KW power relaying DD National & DD News Channels respectively and 01 Satellite Earth Station.
DDK Shillong telecasts programme daily from 1500 Hrs to 1900 Hrs in terrestrial mode and 0700 Hrs to 2300 Hrs in satellite mode.
(b) An amount of Rs 3.59 crore has been spent under Capital Head during the last five years (2012-13 to 2016-2017) & current financial year (till November 2017) to upgrade technical facilities by providing digital equipment for production and post production. In addition, digitalization of terrestrial transmitter has also been taken up.
(c) No Director level officer was posted in DD Kendra Shillong since last five years.
(d) Hon’ble Ministers of Information & Broadcasting have been regularly reviewing functioning of Prasar Bharati in North East including that in Meghalaya in various meetings.
