(a) whether the Government of Gujarat has submitted a proposal for Rs. 223 Crore
OPEC assistance for bulk transmission of water and distribution network in the
earthquake affected areas;
(b) whether this proposal is pending for clearance of the Union Government; and
(c) if so, the time by which the proposal is likely to be cleared ?

(a) Yes, Sir.
(b) and (c): A project proposal for supply of drinking water in Gujarat at a total cost of
Rs.223.50 crore, with financial assistance from OPEC was received from Government of
Gujarat in the Department of Drinking Water Supply. The project proposal after taking
concurrence of Planning Commission and Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty
Alleviation, has been forwarded to Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs,
on 12.7.2002 for posing to OPEC,
