Question : NAVODAYA VIDYALAYAS



(a) the number of Navodaya Vidyalayas in Gujarat and Maharashtra as on date and the number of students enrolled therein;

(b) whether the number of teachers in those Vidyalayas are as per their requirement;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the time by which the number of adequate teachers are likely to be appointed?

(a) As on date 16 Navodaya Vidyalayas have been sanctioned in the State of Gujarat and 29 in Maharashtra. The number of students at the commencement of current academic session in these two states was 3271 and 8503 respectively.

(b) (c) & (d) The position of the sanctioned posts and teachers in position in Navodaya Vidyalayas functioning in the States of Gujarat and Maharashtra is as under:

Arising of vacancies and their filling up is a continuos process. A recruitment drive for filling up of vacant posts of teachers has been undertaken. Pending posting of regular incumbents, vacancies are filled up by engaging teachers on contract/part-time basis, so that the studies of students do not suffer.
