(c) & (d): Madam, National Sports Federations (NSFs) are bodies registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860/Companies Act/Trust Act. To ensure that the NSFs adhere to the principles of good governance
and transparency, Government has issued guidelines including age and tenure limits in respect of Office-Bearers of the NSFs, fair and transparent elections, prevention of age frauds and sexual harassment of sportspersons, observance of RTI, etc. These guidelines are part of the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011 and aimed at ensuring transparency and good governance in NSFs.
Accounts of the NSFs receiving grant of more than Rs. 1.00 crore in a year are subject to audit by the Comptroller & Auditor General of India.
The Government has already notified NSFs getting Government grant of Rs. 10.00 lakh or more as Public Authority under the RTI Act.
The government also monitors the performance of NSFs through the ACTC programme which they implement in association with Sports Authority of India.
