Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE (IC) FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT
(SHRI BANDARU DATTATREYA)

(a) to (c): With a view to providing social security to unorganized workers, the Government enacted the “Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008”. The ‘unorganized worker’ has been defined under the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008 as a home-based worker, self-employed worker or a wage worker in the unorganized sector and includes a worker in the organized sector who is not covered by any of the Acts mentioned in Schedule-II of this Act. As such all unorganised workers engaged in hotel, private security and such other occupations are covered under the Act and avail benefits of various government welfare schemes as per their eligibility.
