(a) whether a workshop jointly organised by the National Human Rights Commission, Prasar Bharti and the United Nation Child Fund was held in Jaipur recently on the child`s protection from sexual exploitation and abuse;
(b) if so, the details in this regard and the suggestions made therein; and
(c) the reaction of the Government thereto and the action taken in this regard?

(a) Yes, Sir.
(b) The National Human Rights Commission in collaboration
with Prasar Bharti and United Nations International
Children`s Fund organised a Regional Workshop on Role of
Electronic Media in promoting the Child`s Right to
Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse , at Jaipur,
Rajasthan from 9th February to 12th February, 2000. The
representatives of electronic media, non-governmental
organisations, Government officers from the State of
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal
Pradesh participated in the workshop. The objectives of the
workshop were to formulate a broad framework for action for
the media to promote awareness and social mobilization
against the exploitation of children.
(c) The Report and suggestions of the Workshop are awaited.
