Question : LAND ACQUIRED FOR GOLDEN QUADRILATERAL



(a) the progress of the Golden Quadrilateral and North-South, East-West corridor Highways project;

(b) the amount sanctioned for acquiring the land for those projects;

(c) the method adopted in fixing the price for the land acquired for those projects; and

(d) and particularly the details of land acquisition in NH-5 Road in Tamil Nadu?

(a) The progress of Golden Quadrilateral and North-South & East-West Corridor projects as on 30.11.2002 is as under:


(i) Golden Quadrilateral Project

Total Length	:	5846 km.	4-laning Completed	:	1159 km.	Under Implementation	:	4551 km.	To be awarded	: 136 km.

(ii) North-South & East-West Corridor Project
Total Length : 7300 km. 4-laning Completed : 817 km. Under Implementation : 671 km. To be awarded : 5812 km.


(b) No separate amount is sanctioned for acquiring the land. So far, approximately 4800 hectares of land have been acquired and National Highways Authority of India has made available with Competent Authority Rs. 426 crores, for the land acquired.

(c) The price of the land is fixed by Competent Authority/Revenue Officer of the State based on the market value and other factors as envisaged in Act..

(d) In the State of Tamil Nadu, land acquisition in a length of 41.8 km of National Highway-5 is being made. The total area of land to be acquired on this stretch is 81.402 acres.
