Question : Girnar Rope Way

(a) whether the State Government of Gujarat has sought clearance under Environment Protection Act, 1986 for according permission to establish Girnar Rope Way so that 7.2871 hectares of forest land falling in Girnar Hills could be used by the user agency for Girnar Rope Way purposes;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether the user agency which submitted online application on 25.04.2016 has been granted necessary permision in this regard, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c) Subsequent to the permission under section 29 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 granted to M/s Usha Breco Limited on 23rd December, 2015 by Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Gujarat, for use of 7.2871 ha of land in Girnar Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat for construction of Ropeway, the Ministry has accorded environmental clearance to the project on 9th September, 2016 in terms of the Environment Impact Assessment Notification, 2006 under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
