Question : Paddy procured on MSP in Jharkhand

(a) the details of the paddy procured on Minimum Support Price (MSP) from the State Government of Jharkhand during the last two years and the current year, year-wise;
(b) the details of the procurement centers opened in the Jharkhand State during the said period;
(c) whether the farmers are compelled to sell their produce at a price lesser than production cost due to inadequate number of procurement centers; and
(d) if so, the response of the Government thereto?

(c) & (d) : No Madam, so far no such case has been reported. However, as and when any demand for opening of purchase centre at particular places for price support operations is raised, FCI/State Government Agencies open purchase centres at such places in order to prevent distress sale.
