Question : CONSERVATION OF TRADITIONAL WATER BODIES



(a) whether the Government have formulated any concrete action plan to conserve, protect and ensure that traditional waterbodies, ponds, lakes-duly registered in revenue records remains the same without alteration of their character;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c) Water being a State subject all water resources projects including conservation and protection of waterbodies are maintained by the State Governments. The revenue records are also maintained by the State Governments. As such, information on formulation of any action plan to conserve and protect traditional waterbodies, ponds, lakes etc is available with the concerned State Government.
