(a) whether the Government proposes to increase the amount of scholarship given to SC and OBC students under various schemes;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the funds allocated and released to the States including Maharashtra under various scholarship schemes during each of the last two years and the current year, State-wise;
(d) whether any balance amount is pending for sanction/release under the said schemes; and
(e) if so, the details thereof, State-wise?

(b) Does not arise.
(c): Central Assistance is released to States under the following centrally sponsored scholarship schemes for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (BC) students;
(i) Post- Matric Scholarship to SC students (PMS-SC)
(ii) Pre-Matric Scholarship to SC Students studying in classes IX and X.
(iii) Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students
(iv) Pre-matric Scholarship for OBC Students
State-wise details for last two years and the current year are at Annexure-I to IV.
(d) & (e) The Scholarship schemes for OBC students are fund-limited schemes and there is no provision of carrying forward the amounts pending of previous year to the next year.
In respect of Scholarship Schemes for SC students, Central Government releases due Central Assistance (CA) to the States/UTs. The details of balance amount pending for release under the scheme of PMS (SC) is at Annexure-V.
