(a). the number of cases of theft of cables and other equipments reported in Delhi during
the last three years till June 30, 2000;
(b). the quantum of loss suffered as a result thereof; and
(c). the measures taken by the Government to check such thefts?

(a) & (b). The details of number of cable thefts, other equipments and quantum of loss
suffered by MTNL, Delhi till June 30, 2000 are given below:
Year No. of theft cases Loss(In Rs.)(c). Intensified patrolling on the vulnerable(theft prone) cable route is being carried out in co-ordination with Police authorities. All the cable theft cases are being reported to concerned police stations for investigation. Also co-ordination meetings are being held with Police authorities even at senior levels to curb these cable thefts.
