Question : Kakatiya Project

(a) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from the Government of Telangana for taking up of Mission Kakatiya Project under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken thereon; and

(c) whether the NITI Aayog has recommended to give financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 5000 crores to Mission Kakatiya Project, if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon?

(a)& (b) No proposal from Government of Telangana has been received for taking up Mission Kakatiya Project under AIBP.

(c) NITI Aayog vide O.M.No.O-14015/15/2015-SP-S dated 31.5.2015 recommended release of special assistance amounting to Rs.5000 crore in a period of 3 years for Mission Kakatiya (Restoration of minor irrigation tanks) to the State of Telangana under Section-92 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. On examination of the recommendation, M/o Finance vide O.M. dated 14.7.2016 clarified that funding for Mission Kakatiya may not be possible from the Head of special assistance created for specific purposes under Demand No.32 (previously 37) operated by D/o Expenditure.

182 water bodies of Telangana have, however, been included under Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of Water Bodies scheme of MoWR, RD & GR and Rs. 44.876 crore has been released in 2015-16 towards these water bodies.
