(a)&(b): Yes, Sir.National Agricultural Innovation Project with the development credit assistance of the World Bank is in
operation since July, 2006 for a period of 6 years with an outlay of USD of 250 million (about Rs.1190 crore) of which
Government of India contribution is USD 50 million. The main objective of the project is to facilitate accelerated and
sustainable transformation of Indian agriculture for enhancing productivity, profitability, income generation and livelihood
security.The project has four components, namely, ICAR as the catalyzing agent for management of change in the Indian
agricultural research system, Research on production to consumption systems, Research on sustainable rural livelihood
security, Basic & Strategic research in the frontier areas of agricultural science. The main features of the project
include consortium of partners, competitive funding, market orientation, knowledge management etc.
(c) The details of state wise release made under different subprojects of National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP)
during the year 2007-08 (till February, 2008) are given in Annexure-I.
