(a) to (c) Yes, Madam. Ground water is being continuously extracted in rural areas of the Country for drinking and irrigation purposes. As per latest assessment (year 2013) carried out by Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) jointly with State Governments, the net annual ground water availability in the Country is 411 BCM (billion cubic metre), whereas, annual ground water utilization is 253 BCM, out of which 90%, i.e., around 228 BCM is extracted for irrigation purpose.
