Question : FUNDS FOR HEALTH SERVICES



(a) the details of funds allocated and utilized for the improvement of health services during the current financial year state-wise; and

(b) the details of the health schemes where the funds are being spent or likely to be spent, state-wise?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH & FAMILY WELFARE (SMT. PANABAKA LAKSHMI)  

(a) & (b) Funds are allocated to States in the form of Grants-in-aid under Health and Family Welfare in respect of the admissible activities under National AIDS Control Programme (NACO) and the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). Besides these programmes, grant–in-aid is also released under certain other programmes like Cancer, Mental Health, etc., based on proposals received from States Governments. During the current year, an allocation of Rs. 680.13 crores has been made under National AIDS Control Programme and Rs. 8979.13 crores under National Rural Health Mission. The State-wise allocations in respect of both these programmes is at Annexure-I. While all States have not reported expenditure, according to available information received from States that have reported, Rs. 35.55 crores has been utilized under NACO and an amount of Rs. 226.96 crores under NRHM by end June, 2007 (Annexure II). Funds are likely to be spent under the component-wise activities against the allocations that have been made during the current year. Â
