(a) Whether any survey had been conducted by the Tribal Research Institute in the past;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has chalked out any plan to conduct intensive surveys with the motive of economic, social and educational development of tribals;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefore?

(a) & (b) Yes, Madam. 12 out of 18 Tribal Research Institutes have conducted surveys to on different subjects including Baseline Surveys, Benchmark Surveys in Tribal Sub-Plan(TSP) areas, Socio-economic Surveys, Conservation-cum-Development(CCD) Plan project surveys for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PTGs), Sample Surveys for Education of tribal Girl Child, Geographic Information System(GIS) Survey etc. Details of the survey reports are maintained by the TRIs for use as inputs for formulation of programmes for the development of tribals.

(c) to (e). State Governments and the Tribal Research Institutes conduct surveys with a view to collect factual information of the socio-economic and educational conditions of the tribals in their States and use that data as inputs for formulation of projects with the objective of economic, social and educational development of the tribals.
