Question : Withdrawal of Security Cover

(a) whether the Government has decided to withdraw the security provided by the ''black cats'' of the National Security Guard (NSG) to many VIPs and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(b) whether the Security personnel of NSG will be engaged in action against terrorism and, if so, the details thereof;

(c) the total number of VIPs provided security coverage and security personnel engaged thereon as on date; and

(d) the total amount spent on VIPs security by NSG during the last three years?

(a): No, Madam. There is no proposal to withdraw the security provided by the NSG to the present protectees.

(b) & (c): National Security Guard (NSG) is primarily a Counter-Terrorism Force. However, NSG has also been tasked with providing
security cover to 16 protectees. The number of NSG security personnel deployed on VIP security is 515 as on 01.02.2016.

(d): The expenditure incurred on providing NSG security cover is difficult to estimate as it is the State Government/Union Territory Administration concerned, which provides vehicles, fuel, accommodation and other logistics support to NSG.
