Question : Contribution made by MSMEs in GDP

(a) the contribution made by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the total GDP of India during the last three years;

(b) whether the Government proposes to increase share of MSME sector in GDP;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): As reported by National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI), the Share of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in all India GDP during 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 has been 29.3%, 29.7%, and 30.3%, respectively.

(b) & (c): The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) implements various schemes for promotion and development of MSMEs across the country. These include Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Micro and Small Enterprises-Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), Scheme for Promotion of MSMEs in North Eastern Region and Sikkim, Tool Rooms and Technology Centers, Mission Solar Charkha (MSC), Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme, Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP), Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and Credit Linked Capital Subsidy and Technology Upgradation Scheme (CLCS-TUS).
